A trip down under-Day 7

Howdy!

It was time for some retail therapy today (and to get some warmer clothes for when we go down south). So we headed off to the mini shopping centre. When we were there I found an amazing shop that I'm now obsessed with called Typo. It is like a station

ary/home wear shop and everything in it is soooo cool. I could have literally bought everything but I dont think it all would've fit in my suitcase! But I did buy some super awesome notebooks as they were 3 for 10 dollars (£5).

I will definitely be going back there before I come home! Next we went to Big W which is like a massive department store that sells practically everything. I couldn't find much jn there as most of the clothes weren't my style but I did find a t-shirt I liked.

As that was slightly unsuccessful my aunt told me that I'd prefer Supré as it id basically a shop for teenage girls like me. I luuuurv this shop aswell so I probably could have bought a lot more but instead I bought a super cosy hoodie, a fluffy sweater and a pair of black jeggings.
After a successful shop we decided to go to the bakehouse for lunch. I had an amazing steak, cheese and bacon pie and a delicious hot chocolate (the best so far this holiday).

After returning home we relaxed for a bit and then decided to go on a walk through the park with my grandma. It is quite a small park but there was a lake and we spent most of the walk admiring all the pretty houses we wished we owned.

In the evening we played some cards, watched some tv and had dinner. I then went to bed as I was literally falling asleep at the table (maybe I haven't quite got over jet lag yet).

A trip down under-Day 6

Howdy!

For today's activities we went to a neighbouring town for a wednesday market. It was massive! Full of crafts, clothes, jewelry, homeware, food etc. However nothing really that was my style so I got incredibly bored half way round but my aunt insisted we go around the WHOLE thing.

After about an hour and a half we decided to stop and head to the pub for a drink and lunch. We had chips and chicken wings. It was funny because the people on the table next to us were sophisticated with their steaks and knife and forks and here we were eating greasy chicken wings with our fingers like animals. (They kept hiving us funny looks but who cares, they were good)

Then we went home for a bit after going to the golf club. We left early so that we were able to see the sunset and hopefully kangaroos but we weren't so lucky with the second part. Like Sunday, the sunset was really pretty! We then proceeded to have dinner and play cards before going home to....you guessed it...play more cards!

I didn't take as many but here are some pictures!

A trip down under-Day 5

Howdy!

I still cant believe I'm actually sticking to this, I'm hoping to last at least a week though. Today I woke up a lot later than I have been which was good. We then went to town to look around the shops, go to the bank and do some food shopping in Woolworths (or wollies as aussies call it). I always find it fascinating looking around a different countries supermarket to see all the different brands and foods they have! However I was surprised to see a lot of the things were exactly the same as in the UK.

After that we went back home and had lunch before taking a drive to halfway mountain and from there we walked right to the top. I always find walks very refreshing especially when I walk off ahead of everyone else and get some alone time with nature. Along the way I also saw some boys doing abseiling down the mountain which was very brave but I think I could do that one day!

At the top there was an absolutely breathtaking view of the land and rivers and sea in the distance. We just spent ages taking it all in and playing 'king of the Castle' as some might say. The walk wasn't too bad either and it was very sunny and warm which was a bonus.

After walking back down we headed home to play cards with grandma, have dinner (which was steak on the barbeque with corn on the cob) and play more cards.

The weather has been especially cold tonight however as long as you're inside with heating on its fine! During the day ever since I got here its been blue skies and nice and sunny which always makes everything feel better and in the sun it is incredibly warm!

Anyways here the pictures I took today:

A trip down under-Day 4

Howdy!
Today has been a pretty relaxed day as we all woke up a little later. (Getting over jet lag wooo!) So we had a casual breakfast consisting of jam on toast and lazed around for a while.

At around lunch time some of my aunts friends came over to look at her house and them we all went to the boathouse on the river for lunch! Apparently there's supposed to be a cold snap here at the moment but sitting by the window in the sun at lunch time, I actually got too hot and had to move! My aunts two friends were very outgoing and talkative which I didn't like so much but it meant that I could sit there and listen to them talking mostly and contribute with the occasional laugh, agreement or answer to a question (im awkward and love one way conversations with people I dont know). For lunch I had a chicken schnitzel burger with beer battered chips which was amazingggg. But also very very filling.

After lunch after the friends left we went to the main kind of high street to do some window shopping (I plan to go back soon and actually buy some things) and went to the beach where the river meets the ocean in the town where people were actually sunbathing! In the winter! What?!

Tonight I sat and did some wordsearchs (I know im weird), had some dinner and started to watch a netflix movie which I found boring so went to bed to write this! Again, here are some pictures of my day:

A trip down under-Day 3

Howdy!

I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday (nothing much happened as we arrived in the morning, caught up with family then went to sleep at 6pm as we were all extremely jet lagged). Although we did get to see my families house (which is amazing) that is right next to the local park and surrounded by palm trees so it almost looks like you're in the middle of the garden. My cousin's little black pug was also over and as she is only 10 weeks old she was tiny and decided to bite everything within reach!

Anyways, back to today. So it started very early at 5am as I went to sleep so early the night before. We were treated to a full English cooked breakfast made on the barbecue, which was very weird considering its the middle of winter (their winter is like our spring/summer) but also yummy! After mum and grandma were back from church, we all went down to the marina to go on their boat down the river!

It was such a lovely day and as the water was completely flat with no waves it was very relaxing. We drove up the river, got off at a few mini beaches, had lunch, caught some prawns to use as bait for fishing, attempted to do some fishing (which was pretty boring as we weren't successful at all) and watched the sunset go down on the river,  which was pretty spectacular and a perfect photo opportunity!

Tonight has been spent eating dinner and playing cards inside with the heating on as it is pretty chilly at night!

Highlights of the day:

-Almost pushing my mum in the river when we were taking a photo

-Completely messing up the scoring table of a card game and having a laughing fit and getting into a delusional state (I won the game though).

-The beautiful sunset over the river and looking at all the big houses on the river that I could only dream of!

Talking of good photo opportunities here is some more pictures from today!

A trip down under-Day 1

Howdy!

I am writing this from the 12 hour plane journey to Singapore at the moment and wow its long!

For my holiday to Australia this year I have decided to record my time by writing posts on this blog. Not only will it be a good way to let my friends know what I'm up to but so I can savour these memories!

After an extremely boring and frustrating taxi ride (it took an hour more than it should have due to traffic) we finally arrived at the aiport. The check in and security was surprisingly very quick and before I knew it we were in starbucks for my first hot chocolate of the holiday. (you'll come to realise I'm addicted to it) After my parents making friends with someone who claimed to be a bollywood actor filming in the UK, it was time to go to the gate. Annoyingly, we had to get a bus to the plane but I suppose its all apart of the adventure ).(an extremely boring one at so far)

So far on the plane I've watched the new Cinderella and half an hour of Simon's Cat videos. I found Cinderella kinda boring as I know the story and have seen many different film adaptations. Simon's Cat however was very funny as usual, I mean who doesn't like watching a cat wrip a room to shreds while the owner sleeps!

Well I think I've rambled on enough about my journey so far so I'll leave you with a picture of my cat sleeping in my suitcase this morning (he obviously wanted to come with us!) and a few view pictures from ly flight!

Christmas abroad

Hello my pumpkins!

In my house, the 'C' word is never to be mentioned before the 1st of December according to my mum. It can be somewhat stressful for adults apparently. But as a teenager, I don't feel like it is. Then again I don't really have to buy many people presents, tidy and decorate the house and cook Christmas dinner...that's mostly my parents jobs! But I find that every so often, its good to go away for Christmas, get away from the reality that hits you every day and just sit back and relax. I find that there is no better place than America for this! There is quite possibly no other country in the world that goes so overboard with Christmas, I should know! I'm taking a trip down memory lane to 2008, when I was 9 and went to LA at Christmas time!

Even though I only spent a couple of days there before continuing my travels to New Zealand and Australia, it was enough to see how magical America truly is at Christmas! When I went with my parents and brother, my dad decided to spoil us all and book us a 5 star hotel where the Oscars had previously been held! Being a 5 star hotel, the decorations were absolutely magnificent! The outstanding decorations ranged from a Christmas tree with real sized violins hanging from it and a human sized gingerbread house equipped with freshly baked cookies every morning! The night we arrived, we decided to explore the surroundings and right outside the hotel there was a square complete with an ice rink and the most delicious hot dogs! The farmers market held mountains of amazing christmas treats and the beach (despite being completely empty) it was an amazing feeling to be standing on a beach in the middle of winter!

When getting the Australia, it was even weirder! The weather was around 30 degrees each day as it was Australia there and instead of building snowmen I was building sandcastles! Below are some of the pictures of my trip to Australia however these pictures are from when I went back there in 2011!

Santa's just hanging out...
